>> cenk: my favorite is the herman cane clip. this is not a popularity contest. well it kind of is. it's called a democracy. we see what gets more votes. that's how it works. i love it when these guys on the right start to cry. of course, president obama with the historic victory last night. but you already knew that. if you were watching this show, six weeks ago. >> president obama will be re-elected. now, is there a caveat and asterisks that things could happen? of course, life is too unpredictable to say anything with 100% certainty. now the rest of the press will be saying, oh my god it's a close race and the country is splitting, no one knows what is going to happen. nonsense. >> cenk: nonsense. that's exactly what happened with the rest of the media. do you remember this great moment by joe scarborough who

decided, president obama will get 332 elect traditional votes. he said there was a 92% chance that president obama will win and there was a chance that president obama and in fact, he did win. nate silver last election got 49 out of 50 states right. this time when florida comes in, he'll get 50 out of 50 right. who else did i rely on? "huffington post" pollsters. do you know how many states they got right? 50 out of 50. you know why? because they did math. they didn't say these are the things we want to happen. they said this is what the polling, the combination of polling indicates. see, we have logic, we have reasons. not the republicans say this, the democrats say this, golly gee, what do i do? you do math. that's what you do. that's why we were right and they were wrong. now we go to the second part of the media.

some tweeted last night. obama is going to win and i wonder if they're going to call this even. they can't call it even if the guy won the presidency. well, they were saying it's not a mandate. all over it's not a mandate. back in 2004 do you know how many electoral votes george bush won, 286. that's a big number. what did president bush say about that right afterwards? >> i earned capital political capital, now i intend to spend it. >> cenk: the entire media went along with it, he has a mandate. 286. that's pretty big. how much will president obama get, very likely 332. how do you like them mandates. that's how mandates work, my friend. if bush had a mandate, then president obama has a giant mandate. step aside butch, step aside

butch, we're going to go to war. how did the votes come down and how did he win? african-americans, 99% in 2008 went to president obama. in 2012, 93% went to him. latinos were 67% in 2008. 71% in this election. so latinos made a huge, huge difference. and then we had women also 55% in favor of president obama and he had a 38% advantage among single unmarried women. those carried him to electoral victory. now, the other part of what carried him to victory is that he represented a progressive position. i don't think he's as progressive as he campaigns. but when he's on the campaign trail he sounds like a progressive. that's what people voted for. but they didn't vote just for president obama. look at these progressive victories all across the country. i've been telling you all

throughout, by the way that this country is fundmently progressive. i always back it up with numbers. for example on abortion, 77% of americans according to a gallup poll say that they want abortion to be legal. well, that means that 77% of the country is pro-choice. that's an overwhelming majority on our side. all those anti-choice people, richard mourdock todd akin, they all lost, and they helped romney to lose. that's the american people sending a clear message. we don't want that. we want the opposite. we want progressives. what about climate change, yale university poll, 74% of americans believe it is affecting the weather in the united states right now. the country is fundamentally progressive. how about during this election. they did an exit poll and they asked about raising taxes. raising taxes, we are told no way americans don't want to raise taxes. wrong again bob 60% of

americans say raise taxes already. how about pot. you crazy that passed everywhere, colorado overwhelming passed. legalized. not medical marijuana but recreation marijuana. come on, gay marriage, this country is fundamentally conservative. that's what you hear from the knuckle heads on tv. this is a conservative country look at these maryland, passed. may, passed. and maine was an important one. it was a ballot initiative. they put it on there and the voters in maine said yes

legalize gay marriage. the country is fundamentally progressive, and it showed clear and clear last night. >> obama: tonight political action not politics as usual. in the coming weeks and months i'm looking forward to reaching out and working with leaders of both parties to meet the challenges we can only solve together. reducing our deficits, reforming our tax code, fixing our immigration system, freeing ourselves from foreign oil. we've got more work to do. >> cenk: all right look, a lot of that sounds good and he talk talked about climate change as well, last night great no problem. today, that's a different story. how would i react if i'm president obama? with this clear mandate--say it with me, mandate mandate mandate. that's what i tell to the

republicans. john boehner came in today. >> involves making real changes to the financial structure of the entitlement programs and close loopholes and deductions working together to create a fair simpler cleaner tax code we can give our country a stronger healthier economy. a stronger economy means more revenue which is what the president seeks. because the american people expect us to find common ground we're willing to accept some additional revenues via tax reform. >> cenk: now that sounds good, right? additional revenues, it sounds like--no no, no. in other words what he's saying i might close some of the loopholes and then i'll put loopholes within the loopholes but i won't touch tax rates. if i was president obama john i got news for you. we won you lost. you want to do it again? you wanting to through this two years from now? have at it, hoss, go for it.

no no, i said we would be getting rid of the bush tax cuts for the rich. i did not stutter. i got elected. i got 320 electoral votes that i'll ram down your throat. no we're going to raise taxes on the rich just like i said. we'll go to the pre-bush tax cut era. that's what we're going to do. don't give me your weak sauce about tax reform. he says, no, no. >> garner republican support for new revenues, the president must be willing to reduce spending and shore up entitlement programs that drive up our debt. >> cenk: no, this is not you dictating the terms any more. if i were obama, i would say hey, i'm not having that conversation about social security. that has nothing to do with the budget. if you want to talk about medicaid and medicare, you would have to give me a whole lot more than the bush tax cuts. i just told people that i'm not

going to cut medicaid, medicare, that's off the table. other spending cuts, that's in the deal. that's where the president comes in. i don't believe he will say that. i do believe that he'll do a deal with john boehner largely on john boehner's terms i hate to break it to you the first day after the election. but from time to time i know what i'm talking about this stuff. president, this is the first time you have leverage, for god god's sake, use it. the senate race, a political bloodbath for the republicans. can't wait to talk about that. >> and i am well aware that i will be the first openly gay member. wait until you see what we do to you're about to watch a viewer created ad message for little caesars who proudly salutes unites states veterans everywhere. >> hi, i'm rick loz. i joined the united states air force in 1987. as i was leaving the service i went into a civilian career for a little bit but i was looking for a little bit more than what the civilian career had to offer me and that's when learned about the little caesars veterans program. the little caesars veterans program helps the veterans transition to civilian life. they give them credits and discounts on the things that they are going to need to help open a new store. it was a program that they were just starting to kick off and i got the honor of being the very first veteran. i have three kids and boy, they were very happy to help out. i had one as a cashier, one worked a some of the other stations making pizza in the back. they really enjoyed owning a

franchise. one of the other great benefits about owning your own franchise is you can determine how big you want to make it. i started out with one store, i currently have four and i have the opportunity if i so desire to expand beyond that. one of the great things about being one of the first veterans program, i had the opportunity to talk to a lot of veterans. i know a couple of them personally and they now own a store or two so it's really been a great thing for me and i think that's it's been a great program for little caesars.

what happened hoss? it turned out they didn't pick up seats they lost seats. they're not going to win in montana. wrong again, jon tester won to denny rehberg. sad day for you rehberg pack up and go home. they spent a tremendous amount of money against tester, they were so confident but tester explained it didn't work out this way. >> this victory is our victory because it proves that neither corporations or billionaires can buy the state of montana and buy elections. [applause] in montana we believe that people and their ideas and their values are what governor us. >> cenk: well, okay, find, the democrats won in montana. but then they got to win in north dakota, north dakota, they're not going to win there

right? heidi heitkamp the democrat wins 50.5 to rick berg, who conceded earlier today. sad day for you all. and then the democrats picked up seats in the canada. they had 53 caucusing over all. now there are 53 democratic seats and two independent who are very likely to caucus with them. and then they didn't just pick up seats but they picked up lions like elizabeth warren. >> for every family that has been chipped at, squeezed and hammered, we're going to fight for a level playing field and we're going to put people back to work. [ cheering ] to all the small business owners who are tired of a system rigged against them, we're going to hold the big guys accountable. >> cenk: damn straight! damn straight!

then i love this quote, i think this is an election where we stuck to our values: make sure social values are protected and millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share. that's the heart of it. i hope that's exactly what democrats stick to. for victories this epic, who would you turn to? who would caucus with them. joe lieberman and bernie saunders won. they got 25 yesterday if you include from maine they have not said who he will caucus with. it is presumed he'll caucus with the democrats. he's a bit of good news today. races we looked at yesterday. you mentioned the jon tester race you mentioned the heitkamp race todd akin lost missouri by 16 points. >> cenk: that is an ass kicking. >> it doesn't get more legitimate than that. then indiana where richard mourdock lost by six points. the amount of money spent and we discussed this ad nauseam. the amount of money spent in two senate races by linda mcmahon

who lost to murphy, and then that tester race, you look at the state of montana. you look at the senate race, so much of what they got and tester was able to get was indian reservation land here in montana. up here you have the reservation. so much of it is in indian land. the same thing in south north dakota. and then we can't get that map to work. in any case the indian reservations helped both the democrats in these razor thin margin states. in the house there are a couple of races we want to talk about. the house of representatives saw what we think is a big upset. allen west doesn't think it's a big upset. he lost. he'll demand a recount. he has demanded that recount in florida. that is great news for the house of representatives. great news for the tea party losing. one race in california, the brad

sherman, howard berman race that was almost literally a bloodbath when sherman tried to challenge him to a fist fight. berman just beat him down at the polls. and then in the palm springs area the 33rd district lost to raul luis. if you think the latino vote-- vote----the macks they boast both lost races. >> cenk: let's look at the composition of the house real quick. right now the race that has been called. seven are still being decided it looks like the republicans held onto the house but they

lost seats in the house which a lot of people are not talking about. >> no, that's true. today the silver lining for the republicans is that they did in fact, hole on to the house. john boehner just today was saying that people voted for status quo in the house of representatives. one of them is that we spent so much time about the citizens united, the amount of money put into the presidential race and the senate races and it made the biggest difference in the house. so much money spent on a local level where it's hard to combat that level for a lot of these challenges and it made it difficult. theythe democrats did pick up seats in the house john boehner said he's ready for the president to lead them. we'll see. >> cenk: we'll talk about the republicans who lost in the house later in the program. those losers. in fact, when we come back, you want to talk about losers. here comes dick morris. >> all right dick, what do you

that. this is what happened next. >> do you believe that ohio has been settled? >> no, i don't. >> you don't say that obama is going to winners you just say he want won yet. >> this is premature. we've got a quarter of the vote. >> i understand what carl is saying, but if you look at some of these counts that are left out there there are a lot of votes left for obama. >> i don't know what the outcome is going to be, but we got to be careful about calling things when we have 991 votes separating the two candidates and a quarter of the vote left to count. >> well, folks maybe not so fast. >> thank you. >> great to have you guys here. >> that's awkward. >> cenk: that is, indeed awkward. what is really awkward is that karl rove runs one of the largest super pacs in the country, and he has an enormous financial incentive for romney to win the election. then he goes on a "media" news

outlet and says, yeah, yeah, take it off the bothered off the board. i haven't decided if i'm going to call it an election or not. here comes cable news history as he makes megyn kelly walk back to those who called the election for fox news. >> karl rove said we should figure out what the deal is, mngyn, i'll watch you go down to the steps to interview them. >> we were thinking this wouldn't be necessary. but, hmm as it turns out we'll do a little interrogation to see if they stand by their call. this is the decision desk. you tell me whether you stand by your call in ohio given the counts that karl rove raised. >> we're quite comfortable with the call in ohio. >> cenk: that was an awesome walk of shame. guess what happened at the end. turns out president obama won ohio and the election. oops? what now karl.
